Tips For Email Marketing: 5 Basic Tips That Work

Are you wanting to learn some tips for email marketing that can increase your business? Perhaps a higher open rate on emails, more clicks, and more repeat business? If so, I am going to share the best tips for email marketing I have learned and used, and these will work well if practiced.

I am going to break down the basic tips for email marketing and explain why they work well. If you are using email campaigns in your business, you want to always consider these email marketing tips:

1. Use Creative Subject Lines

This is what will catch your prospect or customer’s eye. It must be something worth while for them to open it and give it a chance. The subject alone will not increase click rates, but only open rates. According to your niche, you must make it fit with what they want, and make it expalin the extreme value inside the email. You can also use subjects that raise curiosity as well to get more open rates. Don’t mention offers, sales, and stuff that would keep even you from opening it!

2. Keep It Short & Sweet

A big mistake many email marketers do, is they over write. Most people are in a hurry and want to get on with their day. By just rambling on about nonsense or over explaining can make your prospect close and delete. Keep it to as few words, sentences, and small paragraphs as possible. Get to the point fast and this can really increase your click through rate.

3. Place A Link Towards The Top

In my emails, I will make a couple of sentences, and give a link. Even as a short email you need the link towards the top so people can click quick. Sometimes they get the point and are interested in visiting your site just by the subject line. So having a link up high will keep them from having to read all the lines they don’t care to read. I always place a second link a couple of sentences lower for those who do take the time to read the entire body of the email. Placing links too low will decrease your click rate, so make it easy for your busy customers and prospects.

4. Don’t Over Do The Emails

One email a day is a very important email marketing tip. Many people have many other emails coming to them, so you are competing with others to get your email opened. By sending too many emails everyday, will increase your unsubcribe rate. Send one a day, and if you have a special event that is coming to a close, perhaps send 4 the day of the event. Send one in the morning, one about 2 hours before it begins, then one an hour before, then one at the start. By sending these 3 extra emails it can increase attendance by 40% in many studies.

5. Don’t Under Do The Emails

Just as too many, not enough is just as bad. People will forget about you if you don’t let them at least see you from time to time. I believe in sending emails from 5-7 a week, at least daily, and a few extras on special occassions. Remember when practicing these email marketing tips, that many emails go to all your prospects. Without enough emails, they will forget you and what you are about.
